LIFE DOESN'T GET ANY SWEETER THAN THIS!

My name is Brenda Joy Rasmussen. I am the oldest of 5 children. I grew up in the small town of Parowan Utah. I have been born into a wonderful family of 3 sisters and one brother. We have been raised by good parents who have given us a life time of love. They have instilled in us a great love for the plain and simple, and most precious things in life, God and family. I now live in the small town of Enoch, Utah, not to far from where I grew up, with my husband Robert. Here in Enoch we have raised 5 beautiful children. We are the grandparents of 13 sweet grandchildren!

Staten Island Summer Surfin!

Staten Island can be a whole lotta fun when you're Summer surfin' with these cute kids!
I love Christian Smiles...
Kira Smiles...
And Aidan smiles!  3 of the joys of my life,  and I'm here to spend a lovely week with them!!
We arrived here this morn from a fun couple of weeks spent in Utah together,  and the first order of business was to say hello to long lost friends that hadn't been seen for awhile and to head on over to the corner market!!! This is our favorite place to go get orange juice and Ginger Ale, Grandpa's favorites... and of course our favorite treat!
It's daddy Ian up to his tricks!  Such a fun guy and a great daddy to these little grands!
He set up an outdoor movie theater in the back yard and we spent a lovely Summer Evening with friends watching the Tom Hanks classic movie, BIG!
Christian's getting to be quite the football player and he showed me some of his fancy moves and fabulous form! I had great fun being taught how to throw the football the right way!  Not sure I ever nailed it, but it was fun none the less!
While we where there, this guy surfed over to see the orthodontist and got him some new braces!  I love that handsome tin grin!
I got a chance to surf the Staten Island train with these three to watch one of Christians basketball games:)
He's a little go getter and an on the ball player!  It was so fun to cheer him on and to watch him play:)
While cheering for Christian, I got to sit on the bleachers with these silly nilly's and we made some pretty silly faces together while they both tried on my granny glasses for size!  They look pretty spiffy don't you think?!
Then we surfed back home again on the staten Island train!!!
These two really do know how to surf the train!!!
This is a dear friend that I so love and admire!  She's been here for us through a pretty rough spot, and has been a huge blessing in my life this summer.  She's a beautiful, amazing, and very spiritual woman who loves my precious grandkids "almost" as much as I do, and thats a whole lot!  She's a wonderful neighbor here:)
The kids have some great friends, and its been so fun to watch them play!  One of our favorite games to play together is "No Bears are Out Tonight!!!" I'm the bear...I hide, and they try to find me.  If I catch them they are put into the Bear Cave until someone comes along to free them:)  They could play this game for hours!
Surfin' the Staten Island Bus with these 3...
and this 3...
to the Sailors Snug Harbor was amazing! What a beautiful, very peaceful and unique place to see:)
The grounds were so fun to explore!
The buildings so amazing and old, and so full of character!
The flowers and botanical gardens were bright and Brilliant,  and oh so beautiful!
It was such a lovely place to ponder, and to feel at peace....
setting at the castle on a beautiful warm sunny day gave me the feeling of being transported into a foreign country to another place and time. It was so amazing!
There were so many places to go exploring....
So many different and beautiful species of trees to climb in.

lovely Botanical Gardens to sit in....
It was as if we could walk through gardens forever!
Kira found her secret garden right in the middle of the castle maze:) What a lovely peaceful day in a beautiful peaceful place. It was as if heaven and earth met!
And of course, we couldn't call it a day without a chocolate topper from the Arctic Circle at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal! It was the perfect ending to a lovely trip to Sailors Snug Harbor!
Have I said how much I love this man and how amazing he is!  Such a great son, and a cute loving daddy for these three precious kids! He rode to the store on his bike and came home with his bike loaded like a "pack camel" with yummy things to make and eat.  Have you ever tried a salted, lemon zested, mango rose on a stick?  OOOOH I have!  Best summer treat ever!
Have you ever tasted his fresh salsa and guacamole?  Soooooo Good!
We had such fun surfing' down the street to the Park nearby to listen to a few people who were performing there:)  Always a happening place....a place the kids love to play!
They love bringing their roller blades, skate boards and of course a frisbee to throw, and we have such fun!  It is here that Kira learned how to ride a skate board for the very first time:) I always love to stop and take their picture on the rocks;)
Then we waked across the street for some delicious New York Pizza!!! Soooo Good!
A visit to the library was a must this time!  Ive never been here before and the experience was so unique and fun!  Such a cute, quaint little library...I really enjoyed myself here:)
We also did a little surfing' down to the family dollar store for our favorite sodas, and then came back to the house and tried an experiment where you really can turn your soda into an instant slushy!  It really works!  The kids had a blast!
We helped daddy weed the garden...
and did a little pondering amid the marigolds!
Kira and I did manicures!  Those long pretty nails ought to help dig out a few of those weeds I would think!
Then their daddy made them some pretty amazing mousetrap guns that really shoot pennies quite a distance!
Such good daddy's helpers!  They are working as a team to get the upstairs rooms done!  It's sure going to be nice:)
Walking to the bus stop to surf a ride to church...
is not a bad wait when you have company this cute to keep you happy and entertained!
We waited for the bus to come, but it never came... so we called for car service:)  We finally did make it to church a little late, but better late than never!  I love the staten Island LDS Ward:)  The people there are so warm, welcoming and friendly!
Its Sunday afternoon and it's our last day here:(  A great way to spend the last few hours together would be making homemade Rescess Peanut Butter Cups! I sure had some great helpers:) We've had such a great time surfin' Staten Island with Ian and his kids.  It's going to be so hard to leave them here this trip.  It's always hard...I usually leave with a heavy heart,  but I think even more so this time.  I leave with a prayer in my heart that God will watch over and bless this sweet little family with everything that they will need for their future joy and happiness, and that he will pour out the blessings of heaven upon them that they will be carried by him through the next few months of uncertainty.  I love them all so much! I'm really going to miss waking up to these cute faces climbing in bed with me every morning:) God be with you my loves, til we meet again.
In the airport waiting for our flight out we found the sweetest place to drown our sorrows in...  Everything chocolate! Oh my! It sure made the sorrow of saying goodbye and the waiting for a flight back to Utah a little sweeter:)
HOME SWEET HOME...THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME:)
